Dan Zanes
...........................................................................................................................
Dan Zanes has been entertaining the kiddie set since he had his own wee one, moved back to NYC,
and started jamming with local dads at the neighborhood park. Originally a member of the Del Fuegos,
a college band he co-founded that turned into a screaming success amongst students, rock and rollers
and even Rolling Stone magazine, Zanes took his musical charisma and re-formed it into celebratory CDs
that kept children clapping and singing along, inspired by classic folk, rock and roll and dance music.
Zanes collaborates on his albums with famous friends and acquaintances like Lou Reed, Dar Wiliams, Sheryl Crow,
Bob Weir, Deborah Harry, and Suzanne Vega. His most recent concert/video DVD “All Around the Kitchen” was
released in August 2005, and a Starbucks dance party compilation is planned for ’06. “Zanes kids’ music works
because it’s not kids music; it’s just music – music that’s unsantitized, unpasteurized, that’s organic even.”
